A Theory of Dynamic Benchmarks
Dynamic benchmarks are an intriguing proposal for benchmark designs that get harder as models improve. We propose a first rigorous model of dynamic benchmarking. We prove that progress in the standard dynamic benchmark design can stall after a few rounds. However, we also show that other designs may lead to more progress.
