Zhichao Ma receives Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Stuttgart – Dr. Zhichao Ma, a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Micro, Nano, and Molecular Systems Lab of Professor Peer Fischer at the MPI for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, receives a Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.

“I am very grateful to receive the fellowship, which will support me for further exploration in the research field of acoustics and intelligent particle manipulation, hosted by Prof. Fischer’s lab at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems,” says Zhichao. “This fellowship gives me the opportunity to work together with many excellent researchers within the Max Planck Society.”

Zhichao received his B.E. degree in mechanical engineering from Jilin University in 2014 and his Ph.D. degree from Singapore University of Technology and Design in 2018. His research interest is developing intelligent systems for micro- and nano-particles manipulation, and he is an expert in microfluidics and high-frequency ultrasound. He has demonstrated unique setups that permit the selection and manipulation of individual cells.

Each year, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 500 fellowships to postdoctoral researchers of all nationalities and disciplines from abroad. They must have above average qualifications, be at the beginning of their academic career and have only completed their doctorate in the past four years. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows the awardee to carry out long-term research of six months to two years in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host.

Fellowships and awards from the Humboldt Foundation are considered to be among the most prestigious and generous awards in Germany; the alumni network is the foundation's greatest asset, comprising over 26,000 Humboldtians in more than 130 countries — including 50 Nobel laureates.
