My research interests lie in the area of machine learning. In particular, I am interested to enhance the understanding of algorithmic decisions in social context. In the last few years, more and more social and economic authorities have started to base their decisions on machine learning methods. Hence, it is fundamental to understand and quantify the influence such algorithmic decisions have on individuals and society as a whole. To that point, I am dealing with different concepts for causal relationships in social settings and developing suitable methods to properly infer these causal relationships from experimental and observational data.
