Human Planning and Decision-Making
We investigate which cognitive strategies people use for planning and decision-making. Our approach combines new empirical and computational methods for inferring the cognitive strategies of human planning from observable behavior [] with resource-rational analysis [], computational modeling, and large scale online experiments. We have developed a resource-rational model of the computational mechanisms of human planning [], empirically characterized the corresponding strategies of human planning [], and derived common strategies of financial decision-making under uncertainty from the principle of resource rationality [].
