As a Research Scientist with a strong background in biology/immunology and various imaging techniques, such as positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), I am interested in the impact of the different micro- and nanorobots on the body. Magnetic, synthetic and/or bioinspired micro- and nonorobots, which already exist in our group and those, which are currently developed, are evaluated regarding their toxicity, biodistribution and immunological reaction. The objective behind this research is the development of a system that is able to detect different diseases (oncological, inflammatory, neurological or infectious) as well as carry and release suitable therapeutics to the site of interest. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the robots have to be evaluated in order to enable safety for the patients, but also to ensure retained functionality of the micro- and nanorobots within the body for potential medical application.
